Interesting post.
There's been a lot said about Rugby injuries lately. Experts claim that the intensity and more specifically the increasing mass of players are leading to more severe and frequent injuries. They fear that on this trajectory, its unsustainable.
Ive also been hearing of more frequent achilles tendon tears, which seems a bit odd - specifically in frontrankers during a scrum.
Lastly, since the 90's Rugby players and I suppose all athletes alike have been taking more stimulants to increase muscle mass. The unnatural strength ration btwn muscle and tendons have led to sever tendon injuries.
But yes I think modern competitiveness is also a factor in the more prevalent injuries as well as professionalism, stimulants and sports fans desire to see bigger and better athlets (not that all this applies to an amateur sport like Judo)
